Wolves making moves in June

The La Ronge Ice Wolves are pleased to announce the acquisition of 96 born Centerman/Winger Noah Kieser and 97 born Center Curtis Peck from the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL. Going back the other way was Winger Braden Jakubowski. Noah Kieser who hails from Sherwood Park, Ab has spent the last two seasons with the Thunder compiling 27 points and 302 PIM. Noah is a versatile forward with the ability to play all three forward positions. “Noah is a guy we have been trying to get for a while, his compete level is extremely high and we feel that his strengths match our style of play”. “He reminds me a lot of Joel Blaquire who had two very good seasons with us” Stated Ice Wolves Head Coach/Gm Shawn Martin. Curtis Peck is from St. Albert, Ab and spent his only season in the AJHL with the Thunder totalling 2 points in 42 games. Before his time with the Thunder he played Midget AAA for the Canadian Athletic Club out of Edmonton where he had 26 points in 34 games. “Curtis is a big hard working Center that I believe can become a strong two-way threat in the SJHL”.

In another transaction, the Wolves moved a 5th round pick in this year’s draft and future considerations to the Kindersley Klippers for Center/Winger Josh Hayward (97) and a 4th round pick in the 2017 SJHL draft. Josh is from Edmonton, Ab and also spent time with the Flin Flon Bombers last season. Over 37 SJHL games last year Josh had 17 points. Prior to last season Josh played Midget AAA with the South Side Athletic club where he compiled 33 points in 34 games his final season. “Josh has a tremendous amount of skill and we believe in the right situation playing with the right players he will be able to have a very productive season with us” was Shawn Martin’s comments on Josh.

The Ice Wolves would like to extend a big welcome to the 3 newest members of the club. The first look at these acquisitions can be had on September 1st when the Ice Wolves open up training camp for the 2016-17 season.
