Ice Wolves acquire Cossette

The La Ronge Ice Wolves have acquired 2004-born forward Jacob Cossette from the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL) in exchange for a player development fee.

Cossette, an Air Ronge product, tallied 11 points in 22 games this season with the Saints.

Cossette led the Saskatchewan U18 AAA league in scoring during the 2021-22 regular season when he notched 77 points in 43 games with the Prince Albert Mintos. He also recorded 71 penalty minutes.

“It’s exciting for everyone to have another hometown boy don the Ice Wolves jersey,” said Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminski. “He led the Sask. AAA league in scoring. He plays a physical and heavy game as well. The Ice Wolves organization, community and fans should be excited about this addition.”

Cossette took home the most valuable player award for his magical 2021-22 campaign with the Prince Albert Mintos.

Meantime, the Ice Wolves resume a four-game swing Friday night in Weyburn when they battle the Red Wings. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m. from Crescent Point Place.

La Ronge closes out its road trip Saturday in Estevan.
