La Ronge, SK — October 4, 2025
The La Ronge Ice Wolves treated their home crowd at Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre to an electrifying finish on Saturday night, edging the Estevan Bruins 4–3 in overtime.
Forward William Knox played the hero, scoring just 1:18 into overtime to send the Wolves’ bench spilling onto the ice. Knox buried a feed from Grayden Perozni and Owen Turner, sealing the win and securing two big points for La Ronge.
It was a hard-fought, back-and-forth game that saw the Ice Wolves outshoot the Bruins 44–27, with goaltender Graham Brown standing tall, stopping 24 of 27 shots for the victory.
The Wolves got on the board late in the first when Waylon Gardipy scored his third of the season at 19:45, finishing off a slick setup from Ryder McKinnon. La Ronge carried a 1–0 lead into the first intermission despite killing off multiple early penalties.
Estevan flipped the momentum in the second period with two power play goals. Ewan Rennie tied the game at 8:30, and Noah Asmundson added another four minutes later to make it 2–1 Bruins. Ice Wolves forward Connor Hoemsen answered at 16:08, tapping home his second of the season from William Knox and Kasen Harrold to even things at 2–2 heading into the third.
Hoemsen struck again early in the third, giving the Wolves a 3–2 edge at 3:10 with assists from Knox and Ryder McAslan. The Bruins battled back late, as Asmundson’s second of the night tied the game 3–3 with just 2:13 remaining, forcing overtime.
Overtime didn’t last long. Just 78 seconds into the extra frame, Knox found open ice and buried the winner, sending the Wolves faithful into a roar. It was Knox’s first goal of the year.
Estevan finished 2-for-5 on the power play, while La Ronge went 0-for-3, but dominated at even strength, particularly in the third period where they outshot the Bruins 17–3.
