Ice Wolves clipped by Bruins

The La Ronge Ice Wolves continued a four-game road trip with a 3-1 loss Wednesday night in Estevan.

Dylan Handel had the only La Ronge goal in the first period, while Topher Chirico made 40 saves in a losing cause.

Ilia Chmelevski scored twice for the Bruins, while Zach Burfoot opened the scoring in the first frame for Estevan. Cam Hrdlicka was not particularly busy, stopping 24 shots for the win.

With the loss, the Ice Wolves slipped to 11-22-3 on the campaign, which still has them ranked 11th in the SJHL standings. La Ronge is five points back of the Estevan Bruins for the last playoff spot.

The Ice Wolves will resume their road trip Friday night in Weyburn when they meet the Red Wings for the first time this season.
