The La Ronge Ice Wolves slipped past the Nipawin Hawks 3-2 in SJHL pre-season action Saturday night at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.
Danny Schmirler led the Ice Wolves with two goals, while Tyler Gyori also found the back of the net. Logan Abric and Karl Soneff both shared the crease in the win.
Jake Malkewich and Hudson Cameron scored for the Hawks. Corben Schnurr and Tyson Endall split the game in the Nipawin net.
With the victory, the Ice Wolves improved to 1-4 in pre-season play. La Ronge will close out its pre-season schedule Sunday afternoon on home ice versus the Battlefords North Stars.
Meantime, the Ice Wolves kick off the regular season Sept. 22 in Melfort versus the Mustangs.
