Ice Wolves Top Defenceman Commits to Augustana

The La Ronge Ice Wolves are pleased to announce that Assistant Captain, Eric Macoretta has committed to join the Augustana Viking hockey program that plays in the Alberta College Athletic Conference.  Eric was named the team’s top defenceman this year coming off a strong season where he led the blue line corps in points and +/-.  “Eric’s leadership on and off the ice was noted on a daily basis.  He and his family are very deserving of this opportunity and going to such a strong program ran by such a respected coach in Blaine Gusdal will be beneficial for Eric’s future development”, states Head Coach/GM Shawn Martin.

Eric was acquired at the start of the 2012-13 season from the Weyburn Red Wings and immediately made an impact on the Ice Wolves, improving his point production from 5 to 14.  This year was a career year for Eric recording 26 points and finishing 13th overall in scoring amongst SJHL defenceman.
