PORTER RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP TO ATTEND WILFRED LAURIER UNIVERSITY
Cole Porter has received a scholarship to attend Wilfred Laurier University and play for the Golden Hawks in the CIS OUA conference. Laurier University, located in Waterloo, ON has a long standing tradition in academics and athletics.
Cole had a breakthrough season this year compiling 56 points in 54 games and finished the season as the Ice Wolves top scorer. He increased his point total from 30 in 14-15 to 56 in 15-16. Along with being an assistant captain he was awarded the Top Scorer, Fans Choice and George Walker Memorial Coach’s Awards at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season. Cole was also awarded the SJHL player of the week 4 times during the 2015-16 season.
“Cole was one of the top two-way centers in our league this past year and one of the top I have had the pleasure of coaching at this level”, says Head Coach/GM Shawn Martin. “One of the things I’m most proud of Cole is how he grew away from the rink in the past two years and became a leader for our team.”
On behalf of the Ice Wolves organization we want to congratulate Cole and his family on this achievement and thank him for his two years of service in La Ronge. Cole is the 2nd Ice Wolf to commit to a post-secondary school following Kris Joyce’s commitment to Windsor University.
