Joyce Looking for Pro Contract at LA Kings Development Camp

ICE WOLVES ALUMNI SEARCHING FOR FIRST PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT

About a year ago, Kris Joyce was finishing up his junior hockey days with the La Ronge Ice Wolves in the SJHL, now the 22-year-old goaltender from Prince George is searching for a pro contract at LA Kings development camp in California.

“Hopefully I’ll get a job from this, if not, I’ll keep plugging away,” Joyce said. “Definitely my goal is to be part of the LA Kings organization for more than just four days.”

While on his December break this past season at the University of Windsor, Joyce says the Kings flew him out to skate with their AHL team.

“They kind of just set a fitness goal for me to hit by June, which I hit. Then I got my invite,” he said. “I’ve known for a few weeks that I’d be coming down – happy to be here and hopefully show them what I got.”

Joyce played last season with the University of Windsor. He recorded a 2.88 GAA and .908 save percentage. He also joined the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears for a couple playoff games.
