The La Ronge Ice Wolves are excited to announce the hiring of Walker Munson as the team’s new Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager ahead of the 2025-26 SJHL season.
Walker’s journey to the Ice Wolves comes full circle as he grew up in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, the same hometown as head coach Kevin “Killer” Kaminski. Growing up in a small-town environment, Walker was immersed in a variety of sports, but it was hockey that truly captured his passion. His playing career saw him rise through the ranks from house league to AAA, learning to adapt and thrive across multiple teams and communities.
“Walker brings a great work ethic and has been involved in the game and comes highly certified to do both on the medical side and also managing the equipment department,” said Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminski. “We are excited to have a guy of his caliber & welcome Walker to the Ice Wolves organization & Family.”
After graduating high school, Walker pursued his post-secondary education at the University of Regina, where he earned a Kinesiology degree with a major in Human Kinetics. His dedication to athletic development didn’t stop there—he went on to obtain his Athletic Therapy Degree from the University of Winnipeg.
“It is a privilege of mine to join the La Ronge Ice Wolves organization as their Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager and help contribute to the success of the team on and off the ice,” said Munson.
Throughout his academic career, Walker gained hands-on experience with athletes at multiple competitive levels. He worked extensively with both the University of Regina Men’s Hockey Team and the University of Winnipeg Men’s Basketball Team, contributing to injury prevention, assessment, care, and rehabilitation. His time with the U of R Men’s Hockey Team laid a strong foundation in sports injury management, while his work with the U of W basketball squad included travelling with the team to the U SPORTS National Tournament.
Following the completion of his studies, Walker worked in a sports and rehabilitation clinic where he focused on individualized patient care and provided athletic therapy coverage for a variety of team sports.
Walker now brings his growing expertise and passion for athlete health and team success to the Ice Wolves.
The Ice Wolves organization is thrilled to add Walker’s professionalism, energy, and commitment to the team and are confident he will play a key role in keeping our players healthy, prepared, and ready to compete.
