Late Heroics leads Ice Wolves past Melville 5-4

La Ronge, SK — October 26, 2025

The La Ronge Ice Wolves capped off their weekend homestand in dramatic fashion Sunday afternoon, outlasting the visiting Melville Millionaires 5–4 in a back-and-forth battle at the JRMCC.

The Ice Wolves opened the scoring on a first-period power play at 10:27 as Grayden Perozni buried home a setup from Zane Normand and Theron Watteyne for his second of the season. Just over four minutes later, Owen Turner doubled the lead with a slick finish off a pass from Everett Merchant—who had a strong two-assist night.

Melville answered back in the second, cutting the lead in half when Kale Margolis struck at 4:27, followed by Jackson Lee at 9:20, swinging the momentum back toward the Millionaires. By the end of forty minutes, the game was knotted at two and primed for a wild finish.

The third period delivered exactly that.

La Ronge regained the edge just 1:49 in, when Oliver Christiansen notched his first SJHL goal, assisted again by Merchant and Evan Cook. Melville’s Matthew Edwards equalized at 8:06. Just 29 seconds later, Margolis struck again for Melville, putting the visitors ahead 4–3.

Then came the comeback.

At 18:56, with the Wolves pressing on a late power play, Trevor Oishi blasted home the tying goal —his fourth of the year—off a feed from Christiansen and Cook. The home crowd erupted. And before the building could settle, Dayton Tailfeathers delivered the game-winner with 33 seconds left in regulation, assisted by Turner. The Wolves bench exploded as the horn sounded on a 5–4 victory.

Graham Brown stood tall once again for La Ronge, turning aside 27 of 31 shots to earn his latest win. Melville’s Fuzz Aafedt made 29 saves but couldn’t hold off the late surge.
