Two Wolves commit to Minot State

Two graduating forwards from the La Ronge Ice Wolves have committed to Minot State for the 2023-24 season.

Both Walker Jerome and Trenton Curtis will be joining the Beavers in the Magic City.

“Minot reached out to me during the playoffs,” said Jerome. “After watching them and my brother play for two years, I knew it was a competitive and winning team. There is consistent hype around the Beavers. I’m excited to join the team and help them towards another national championship. I’m expecting another solid year for the team and I’m thrilled to get to work.”

Jerome is coming off a terrific season with the Ice Wolves, tallying 52 points in 54 games. In 116 SJHL games with La Ronge, the Regina product recorded 96 points. Jerome represented the Ice Wolves at the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Winnipeg.

Meanwhile, Curtis was acquired by the Ice Wolves from the Melfort Mustangs early into the 2022-23 campaign. The Bethune, SK product had 44 points in 50 games with La Ronge. In 100 SJHL games, he netted 85 points.

“I knew I wanted to keep playing hockey once my junior career was done,” said Curtis. “I think Minot was the right fit – I’ve only heard good things about Minot and I’m super excited to get started. I’m excited to be moving to the United States to try something new. Going along with Walker Jerome will be great as well. I’m super excited to get things going.”

The Minot State Beavers captured the 2023 ACHA National Championship this past season. Former Ice Wolf Dalton Dosko was part of that squad.

Four players from the 2022-23 La Ronge Ice Wolves have now committed to post-secondary institutions for the upcoming season.
