October 5, 2025 – La Ronge, SK
The La Ronge Ice Wolves battled hard on home ice Sunday afternoon but came up just short, falling 3–2 in overtime to the visiting Estevan Bruins at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre.
Despite outworking the Bruins through stretches of the game, a goal just 34 seconds into overtime by Estevan’s Rylan Williams sealed the win for the visitors, handing the Wolves a tough-luck overtime loss.
Estevan opened the scoring late in the first period when Daniel Tverdovsky found the back of the net at 19:36. The Wolves responded in a big way in the second period, scoring twice to take control of the game.
At 2:23 of the second, Mattias De Zen jumped in from the point and buried a feed from Kasen Harrold and Ryder McKinnon to even the score. Just over five minutes later, Waylon Gardipy put La Ronge in front with his fourth of the year, finishing off a nice setup from Connor Hoemsen and Grayden Perozni.
The Wolves carried that 2–1 lead into the third period, but Estevan capitalized on a power play midway through the frame. Noah Asmundson tied the game at 8:12, setting the stage for an overtime finish.
In the extra frame, Estevan struck early as Rylan Williams converted a feed from Ewan Rennie to end the contest.
Goaltender Graham Brown was outstanding for La Ronge, turning aside 43 of 46 shots, including several key saves to keep his team in it.
