Wolves Have A Rough Week On The Road

The IceWolves were able to pick up only three of a possible eight points after a four game run in the frigid temperatures of southern Saskatchewan. The first game was a Tuesday night showdown against the Weyburn Redwings. The boys played well but some costly mistakes resulted in Redwing goals, overtime and ultimately a shootout loss.
Wednesday night, the boys headed to Estevan to take on the Bruins. That game was a lopsided one with the Bruins winning 7-4.
The two teams met again at Affinity Place on Friday. It was a much different experience for the two teams as the Wolves outplayed and out scored the Bruins 4-1. Goal scorers were Dylan Nazareth, Jacob Cossette, Ryder Dembo and newly acquired, Dayton Tailfeathers.
With a renewed sense of hope, the Wolves headed back to Weyburn for a rematch for Tuesday’s overtime loss. Unfortunately, the optimism did not last long as the Wolves gave the Wings a 3-0 lead halfway through the first frame. It only got worse from there as the Wings kept flying. By the end of the game, the Wolves were only able to muster two goals while the Redwings scored eight. The 8-2 loss made the long drive home feel even longer.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Icewolves this week as they prepare for their next game, a Friday night clash in Melfort against the SJHL leading Mustangs.
