The energy is electric in La Ronge as the Ice Wolves will officially open their 28th season as proud members of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) this fall.
Last week they kicked it off with their annual spring camp where 150 prospects battled for a chance to become part of the Wolves’ next season.
With the Alumni Golf Tournament, SJHL Draft and SJHL schedule release all coming in June the Ice Wolves staff are busy preparing.
As two-time SJHL champions, the Ice Wolves know what it takes to build a winner. Now, with a new wave of hungry talent and a strong core of returnees, La Ronge is ready to rise even higher.
Leading the pack is former NHLer Kevin “Killer” Kaminski, one of the most respected coaches in junior hockey. Kaminski, who enters his sixth season at the helm, has brought an edge, a fire, and a championship mentality to La Ronge — and the players have embraced it.
Every skate, every drill, every shift at camp has been fueled by one goal: to bring another championship back to our community.
But it’s not just on the ice where the Wolves are leveling up. This season marks a massive step forward as the Ice Wolves relocate to the JRMCC Sports & Recreation Centre for the upcoming 2025–26 season — a move that’s packed with exciting upgrades.
The Wolves’ new home will feature a brand-new player dressing room, state-of-the-art weight room, modern staff offices, and a new hanging scoreboard, giving players and fans an even better home-ice experience.
It’s a bold investment in the future — not just for this year’s team, but for every Ice Wolf who will wear the jersey in years to come.
And make no mistake — this team isn’t run by corporations or big investors.
The La Ronge Ice Wolves are proudly community-owned. Every ticket bought, every sponsor signed, every jersey worn and every cheer from the stands fuels this team’s heartbeat. This is more than hockey. This is family. This is La Ronge.
With new upgrades, passionate leadership, a fresh crop of young talent, and the full power of the community behind them, the Ice Wolves aren’t just ready for a new season — they’re ready for a a new era.
