The La Ronge Ice Wolves returned to the win column Saturday at home when they snuck past the Notre Dame Hounds 4-3.
“We got on the cycle, we made simple plays, got the puck deep, got the puck out,” said La Ronge defenceman Liam McInnis. “We just worked for a full 60 minutes tonight. If we keep doing that, the results will come.”
Liam McInnis, Seth Dragan, Jacob Hufty and Will Forsberg scored for the Ice Wolves. Karl Soneff was excellent in the La Ronge net, turning away 31 shots for his first victory in the SJHL.
Carson Baylis, Briggs Jowett and Cole Wirun found the back of the net for Notre Dame. Johann Tremblay-Kau gave his club a chance to win, stopping 36 shots in a losing cause.
Meantime, two of La Ronge’s goals came on the power play Saturday.
“I thought our zone time was really good tonight, we cleaned up our entries a bit as well,” said Ice Wolves Asst. Coach Kyle Schneider.
With the victory, the Ice Wolves improved to 4-9-2 on the season, which vaulted them into 10th place in the SJHL standings.
La Ronge will close out a busy weekend Sunday at home when they entertain the Melville Millionaires. Puck drop is slated for 5 p.m. from the Mel Hegland Uniplex.
