The La Ronge Ice
Wolves started their weekend with a 5-2 loss to the Notre Dame Hounds Friday night at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

“I think it’s a little frustrating – they travelled five hours to get here and they were the fresher, hungrier team.” said Ice Wolves Asst. Coach Kyle Schneider.

Jacob Cossette and William Forsberg scored for the Ice Wolves, while Topher Chirico made 34 saves in the loss.

Kyle Kalamaras led the Notre Dame Hounds with two goals, while Jacob Lundeen, Carson Baylis and Davis Sato also found the back of the net. Johann Tremblay-Kau turned away 42 shots for the win.

With the loss, the Ice Wolves slipped to 3-9-2 on the season, which now has them in 12th in the SJHL standings. La Ronge is back in action Saturday night at home when they host the Notre Dame Hounds in the conclusion of the weekend series.

“We’ve just got to realize that on any given night, any team can win in this league,” said Schneider.  “You’ve got to be ready to play from puck drop every single night.”

The Ice Wolves will close out their weekend Sunday afternoon at the Mel Hegland Uniplex versus the Melville Millionaires.
