Ice Wolves – more than just Hockey

Since becoming billets for the La Ronge Ice Wolves last year we have had the opportunity to meet several outstanding young men. We would like to take the opportunity to thank several members of the hockey team. A couple of weeks ago, four members disrupted a break-and-enter into a vehicle in our community. Their willingness to confront the assailants resulted in the return of stolen property from a variety of locations to the RCMP.

In addition, the Ice Wolves have established their community-minded attitude by demonstrating their willingness to volunteer in a number of ways. For example, just recently, three members of the team were present at the La Ronge and Area Youth Group’s Third Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, where they assisted with meal preparation and the provision of recreational activities for the youth during the course of the day. The youth really appreciate the time they get to spend with the “Wolves”, and it is evident that mentoring relationships are beginning to form. On a personal note, it has been an absolute joy to open our home to several members of the team over the past two seasons. Please join us in welcoming the “Wolves” to the community; may you have an excellent season.
