The La Ronge Ice Wolves have inked two players from the Cariboo Cougars U18 AAA program.

Forwards Owen Wilkinson and William McKay have both signed a letter of intent with the Ice Wolves for the 2024-25 season.

Wilkinson, a Dawson Creek, B.C. product, had 28 points in 27 games this season with the Cougars. He spent the 2022-23 campaign with the Dawson Creek Kodiaks in the NWJHL.

“I’m a gritty, hardworking player who creates turnovers by always wanting the puck,” said Wilkinson. “I play the game with speed and I like to be physical. I showcase high compete and energy levels that create offensive opportunities. I’m extremely excited to come to La Ronge and show what impact I can have on the team next year.”

McKay, who hails from Terrace, B.C., tallied 27 points in 31 games with the Cougars this past season.

“I’m very excited to sign with the Ice Wolves,” said McKay. “I feel I’ll be able to bring a physical and heavy game to the team. I play as a power forward, but I can also chip in offensively as a secondary goal scorer.”

Meantime, the Ice Wolves are back in action Friday night in Nipawin when they play their last road game of the season against the Hawks.
