La Ronge Ice Wolves forward Mason Bueckert is taking home some league hardware.

The Saskatoon, SK product has been named the SJHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player. In 56 regular season games during the 2023-24 campaign, Bueckert only had 12 penalty minutes. Even more impressive is the fact he was only charged with one minor penalty.

“It’s an honour to win an award in a league with so many good players,” said Bueckert.

In addition to his gentlemanly play, Bueckert led the Ice Wolves offensively, scoring 20 times and adding 42 assists for 62 points.

“It was a tough season for the team, but I was glad I was able to contribute offensively,” said Bueckert. “I have very high expectations for myself and the team next year.”

Meantime, La Ronge forward Jacob Cossette is a finalist for the SJHL’s RBC Community Player of the Year award.
