Ice Wolves Acquire pair of Goalies

The La Ronge Ice Wolves are pleased to announce the acquisition of two goalies.

The first Joshua Dechaine (98) from St. Albert, Alberta was acquired via trade from the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL. Last season he played with the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL where he had 9 wins a 1 loss in his rookie season sporting a 2.72 GAA and a 909 save %. The 6’1 180 lb net minder is a prospect with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL and will be attending training camp this fall with the hockey club. “Josh had an interesting year last year where he didn’t get a lot of time between the pipes but when he played he played very well, everyone we talked to including our goalie coach Jamie McCaig raved about his ability and if it doesn’t work out in Brandon we are very excited about getting him up here” Stated Head/GM Shawn Martin.

The second is Luke Lush (98) from Sherwood Park, Alberta. The 6’1 175 lb goalie spent the last two years with the Sherwood Park AAA Kings club of the AMHL where he sported a 2.50 GAA and 919 save % in 33 games. Shawn Marin had this to say about Luke “We are very pleased that Luke committed to our hockey club, he had some opportunities in Alberta but chose us and with the right development there is no doubt that our staff feels that he can develop into a very good Junior A goalie”.

In another note the Ice Wolves are pleased to announce that 97 born defenceman Trevor Bush has secured a tryout with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL after a very strong rookie season with the Wolves. Trevor was co-winner of the Wolves top Defenceman award and we wish him all the best in his opportunity with Halifax.

Training camp is right around the corner and we are hoping all the fans are enjoying what’s left of the summer and we can’t wait to see them all back in the Mel on Sept 4th for the Annual Black/White Game which starts at 7:00 pm.
