After a 1-0 loss Wednesday to Flin Flon, the La Ronge Ice Wolves responded with a 3-2 victory Saturday over the Kindersley Klippers at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

“It might not have been the prettiest game ever, but I don’t think our guys were going to be denied tonight,” said Ice Wolves Asst. Coach Kyle Schneider. “We did a great job coming out in the third to get the lead. We bent, but we didn’t break.”

Raine Hodge scored the eventual game-winner with 5:01 remaining in the third when he wired the biscuit past Logan Falk, who made 26 saves in a losing cause. Parker Layton and Dylan Handel had the other goals for the Ice Wolves Saturday.

Tylin Hilbig and Cobe Perlinger were the only players to beat Topher Chirico, who was sensational, making 33 saves for the victory.

“Topher was amazing, he did all the work for us,” said La Ronge defenceman Parker Layton. “He’s been phenomenal the past few starts he’s had.”

With the win, the Ice Wolves improved to 9-18-3 on the season, which still has them holding down 10th in the SJHL standings following Saturday’s action.

La Ronge will look for its second straight win next Friday night at home when they host the Flin Flon Bombers at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.
