Job Description
Position: Assistant Coach
Reports to: Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations
Contract length: 2018-19 SJHL season
Salary: Subject to negotiations
Experience: Previous coaching experience required
The Assistant Coach must be able to perform the following duties:
– Work under the supervision, direction and guidance of the Head Coach/ Director of Hockey Operations;
– In cooperation with the Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations, be responsible for effective and efficient budget control and the ordering of all equipment, training and locker room supplies;
– In conjunction with Head Coach/ Director of Operations, provide regular reports to the board of directors;
– In unforeseen events, assume Head Coach duties when required;
– Ensure policies, rules, expectations as outlined in the Policy Manual, are adhered to;
– Provide leadership and act as a positive role model towards players;
– Coordinate education program for players enrolled in high-school or post-secondary classes;
– Liaise with billets, educators, and employers of players when required;
– Provide mandatory regular (nightly) curfew checks;
– Be responsible for all practice and game preparation of the Ice Wolves;
– Supervise team trainer regarding the responsible for all general maintenance and care of equipment;
– Supervise team trainer regarding the upkeep of equipment repair/treatment area, workout area, and locker room area;
– Must attend all games and practices of the Ice Wolves;
– Must be willing to work flexible hours;
– Assist in local and regional hockey schools and camps;
– Due to the nature of directly working with minors, position requires a Vulnerable Sector Check
