The La Ronge Ice Wolves dropped a 4-3 decision Saturday night at home to the Battlefords North Stars.
“I thought that was one of our most complete 60 minutes of the year,” said Ice Wolves Asst. Coach Kyle Schneider. “Unfortunately, they got a few early in the third period. The boys fought back – once again.”
Jaxson Martin, Raine Hodge and Dylan Handel scored for the Ice Wolves, while Topher Chirico made 28 saves in a losing cause.
Brayden Sinclair led the way for the North Stars with two goals, while Brad Blake and Kian Bell also tallied. Justen Maric was brilliant in the North Battleford net, turning away 47 shots for the victory.
La Ronge will look to rebound next Friday night on the road in Kindersley when they start a weekend series with the Klippers at the West Central Events Centre.
“Kindersley has a big top line, we’re going to have to do our best to shut them down and keep them off the board,” said Schneider.
With the loss, La Ronge’s record slipped to 5-15-3, which has them ranked last in the SJHL standings.
